Ricky Medina Jr.

Anyone who has ever met Ricky would tell you he is one of a kind. His personality was magnetic and his ability to talk to anyone was unmatched. He lived life to the fullest and made sure everyone did the same. He put others before himself, and that is what we hope to continue to do with this foundation.

As a child, Ricky loved all sports, but his true love is baseball. He attended Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, VA, where he was a standout baseball player. After graduating in 2001, he went on to play baseball and study communications at Christopher Newport University.

Ricky fought brain cancer for 2 years, never once complaining or asking why. He is a role model for many, especially his son Ricky III. His legacy will live on through all of us. We decided to create this 501c(3) nonprofit to honor Ricky and follow his example by helping as many people as possible. We will be the best versions of ourselves for him.

Our Mission

Medina14 Foundation, Inc., is a non-profit corporation formed in honor of Ricky Medina Jr., a beloved member of the Northern Virginia community, who passed from brain cancer at age 39. Ricky was known for his positive attitude, and ability to talk to anyone. After being diagnosed with stage four brain cancer, he told his family, “Don’t worry about me, I got this.” The purpose of this foundation is to assist in the development of youth athletic programs in Northern Virginia, support student athletes at Robinson Secondary School, contribute to the athletic programs at Christopher Newport University, and to fund research and development of new treatments in the brain cancer field.
